Happy New Year!
Dec 31, 2008
With a new year coming soon upon us we have a chance to start fresh. There’s something totally refreshing about that! And yet, in looking ahead it can be easy to forget the positives of this past year. No matter how difficult things have been in 2008 it IS possible to find good. I’m challenging myself and each of you to think back and write down all of the blessings we’ve been given. If we don’t take time to notice the good in life we’ll end up living life always pursuing and striving and making goals and before we know it our lives will be over.
Inevitably when I start thinking of how I’m blessed my mind goes to my family. “Thank you God for blessing me with such a wonderful family! You are SO good!”

Our New Baby Girl
Nov 08, 2008
I realize it’s been a while since I’ve been able to write much on here. Things have been rather busy preparing for our new baby. Now that she’s here, it may take me a bit to transition back into writing again. Anyway, I just wanted to show you our new little addition, Katie Rose!
While my plans for a home-birth didn’t go as planned I’m still so thankful for a healthy baby girl. I ended up having over 13 hours of horrific back labor and we weren’t able to get the baby turned. I ended up having a c-section which may just have saved the baby’s life. She was quite wedged in the birth canal.
I still firmly believe in home birth and in VBACs for those with a previous cesarean. Even though I didn’t get my VBAC I’m glad I was able to give it my best effort. Plus, I loved having a midwife care for me throughout my pregnancy. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

NOT Better Homes & Gardens
Oct 15, 2008
How many times do you open up a magazine and see a picture of a house as it is in day-to-day life? Everything is color co-coordinated with very few belongings actually pictured. There might be perfect, fresh fruit on the table and no dirty dishes in sight. Blogs can be this way too. With a blog, I can control what I choose to share which can sometimes give a wrong impression. It might appear that I have it all together; that I serve fabulously nutritious meals everyday, that I spend all day nurturing my daughter, or that everything I do is environmentally friendly. Some days go well and I’m able to keep things clean and keep a good balance to my day. But a lot of times my days are quite imperfect.
I live in a community that HIGHLY values perfectionism and orderliness so I feel the pressure of that. Thanks people like my dear friend, Jami I’ve been able to let go of that pressure so that it doesn’t control me. It’s so freeing! I think we all need a break from the pressure of having a spotless home at all times. WE know that our home isn’t always perfect and we may believe the lie that we are the only ones that live that way. So, to help sever that lie, here’s a refreshing look at my kitchen this morning. Cheers to being real! (Ok, now that I’ve uploaded the picture, you can’t tell how messy it is, but believe me, it IS messy!)
On that note, I need to go fold the laundry that’s been sitting in the laundry basket for two days and put away the wilting produce! :)

Taking Time for Fun and Rest
Sep 18, 2008
I have a confession to make. I have “chronic list-making disease” (CLMD). I make lists for everything! Otherwise, I tend to forget a lot. I make to-do lists, shopping lists, idea lists, project lists and menus. All this list making helps me to be more productive but can also make it harder to relax. There is always something to be done!
Yesterday I realized it had been quite awhile since I did something NOT on one of my lists! I desperately needed to do something purely fun! Isn’t it easy to ignore the fun stuff, feeling like it’s not important? Personally, I relax by making things (jewelry being my favorite). Although, there are times when I need to just sit in quietness (while trying not to make yet ANOTHER list in my mind). There’s something refreshing about not always accomplishing or producing. Contrary to what our culture tells us, there is great value in taking the time to NOT do anything. I try to do this each week by observing a sabbath rest. I’m not legalistic about it but I really feel it’s necessary for my well-being and health.

Dandelion Path Anniversary
Sep 12, 2008
I can hardly believe it! The Dandelion Path is celebrating it’s first year anniversary! Time sure has flown! I started this blog because I had so many things that I wanted to share about nutrition & health & life. I felt like I just couldn’t keep it to myself. Thank you to all who take the time to read the entries here. Thank you too for all of the encouraging words you’ve sent my way. I can’t tell you how much that means to me! My desire is that this blog will encourage you in your journeys to live healthily and well!
To celebrate, I made a yummy peach cobbler with some locally fresh peaches! It was fresh out of the oven though and the candle started to melt from the bottom!
